Question Nissan getting rid of the Titan?

Anyone else see this article on autoblog? Report: Nissan doggedly pursuing Titan replacement, "pretty much going it alone" — Autoblog

Does it sound like they are looking for a full replacement? Name and everything? Or just a sweet facelift and keep the name?

I know firsthand of ongoing development of a product (I cannot disclose) that is intended for the next generation full-size Nissan. They have some big plans, but they have been off and on over the past 3-4 years. I will say that they do not feel limited to the half-ton market, and this will not be just a facelift.

Cummins' new v8 diesel has been liked to a nissan heavy duty pickup option.

Going it alone sounds like making needed changes for added sales for now but nothing more.

LOL! Spy? No. My wife and I have been in the industry for over a decade each and we both have a lot of contacts.

I do not know an exact engine configuration, but HP, torque, and GVWR numbers indicate a heavy duty truck with a diesel. Whether or not it becomes a reality remains to be seen.

Do you think the replacement will have a new name? Or just stay named Titan?
