I know I am seriously looking at the Tundra with the 4.6L V8. Where I will be is mostly flat land on highways, so mileage wouldn't be that bad [18-22 range according to Tundra Forums]. Plus, if the incentives come again down in San Antonio like they have in the past for a summer, I could get a 4x4 Doublecab with 4.10 rear end for invoice [minus 1K for being a college grad & military discount] for 26-27K with 0% APR for 60 months.

Mahindra better make an announcement quick, otherwise I may float to a full size truck this summer.

TxBlack, my local Toyota dealer told me this Saturday, that if I wanted, I could get a Tundra cheaper than the Tacoma!!
Right now, they can't get ready of it for some reason! I don't supposed that they are much worst on gas than the other full size trucks are they???

there are a slew of ads on the radio here for 4 door 4x4 1500/150 trucks here for $20,000-24,000. I am sure for the price point we are all looking at (mid $20's) there are a lot of options. I know the Taco will have better resale values than say a Dodge Ram but the Ram has nearly identical mileage and way more creature comforts and capabilities.

It's all in what you value most.

I know guys who have the Tundra and Titan and it could be a really close race when it comes to sucking gas...

If that is true, than don't buy them. I had a 07 Titan, in the city I was getting 11-13 miles per gallon the very best, and the Hwy the best ever was 19 mpg, normally 18mpg And that is what you will be looking at! Not better!

I guess everyone has their different motivations. I am looking at the Mahindra not for a small truck, but for a fuel efficient diesel that can still haul some weight. I can't see myself paying more for a small truck [Taco or Frontier] that doesn't have the capabilities of a full size truck for a slight mileage gain and huge power decrease.

My brother has a '07 Tundra 5.7 and averages 17-18 MPG throughout the past three years of ownership. I can deal with that over my roommates '09 Taco V6 6MT that only gets 20 MPG.

Needless to say, I am still hoping the Mahindra comes, because I like the diesel option.

Doesn't this thread belong in the NON-Mahindra forum?

It is official, I am getting a Tacoma, as soon as the new 2011 models are available.
It is said, from someone here and another website that they may be improving the engine on the new models, hopefully better MPG !
In any case, will have to bite my tail and wait until August for the new 2011 Tacoma, than I either buy one or take a better deal on a 2010 model (if minor changes only).
Either way, Mahindra still have a small change to earn my business until than...
PS: I called the S.C dealer today and they told me that they are hoping that the truck will be here for June, but not before...
