Default Tax credit?

The article mentions tax credits on the VW clean diesels, will there be a tax credit available on the Mahindra trucks? That would be nice.

honestly there should be some kind of credit for the first 20,000 or something to that effect. It might help some who are on the fence and/or encourge people to get higher trim models which will help GV and Mahindra make some additional profits.

The credit for diesels is for the first 60,000. Hopefully the Mahindra's will meet the criteria, but there is way too much lawyer talk for me to figure it out. Any comment from GV?

From fueleconomy.gov:

"Some diesels purchased or placed into service after December 31, 2005 may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $3,400. (No eligible vehicles were manufactured for sale until 2008.)

Credit amounts begin to phase out for a given manufacturer once it has sold over 60,000 eligible hybrid and diesel vehicles."

ok its 60k then. Still that should be the first couple of year's worth of models in the US. I doubt it would be much but maybe $1400-2000 as a freebie.

Has anyone read anything about the new Ford 6.7 liter diesel in the super duty . It should be out mid 2010.I have seen several reports on it online and they all brag about it, say it may get in the mid 20's mpg..

Many early reports are showing mid 20's highway mileage on the Scorpion 6.7. Dealers are taking orders now btw... (ahem)

I have a brother with a run away Toyota [not literally...yet] who constantly keepse updated on the new superduty. I combat him with the mahindra, but ford looks like they have a real winner in that engine.

Funny! Yeah, My fingers are crossed that the TR20 to be the "right sized" F350 I'm hoping it is. But if it isn't, the Scorpion is verry tempting.

Pete, me too. I've been watching at the diesel stop, waiting to see real world results. Definitely the runway seems to be running out for Mahindra. Mahindra, you listening?
