If Mahindra planned on getting the trucks over here any time soon, and the trucks met the requirements, I would imagine the application would have been put it. No? Something ain't right.

I agree, this doesn't sound good at all. On the bright side, come hot weather I won't be complaining about a stinky falling apart ugly as sin over-priced death trap.

Well, maybe Edmunds.com know what they talking about when they said "Mahindra winter of 2010" and that means Nov/Dec...

I have asked Global Vehicles for a reply on this article. I don't know if they will have a response but I asked anyways. Usually they don't comment but I'll let you know.

I'm not surprised, nothing from Mahindra or GV shocks me anymore. Any company with half a brain that planned to put a new truck out this spring(lol) would be ADVERTISING.

Default 2011

I have to believe their extensive testing makes them believe they can't meet their advertised 30 MPG. Rather than have numbers behind the Ford Ranger, they will wait for the 2011 Unibody model. It will be lighter and they should have time to tweek the transmission to get the needed MPG. Of course it could be something else.

Those who can wait will and those who can't will move on. I am sure they can find buyers regardless of the release year.

My initial thought on GV was that they recognized there was a tremendous demand in the US for a small diesel pickup so they tried to find the cheapest pick-up they could get and sell it in the US for a premium price.

I am wondering if they grossly underestimated how hard it would be to get a truck never engineered for the US market certified or if they are just trying to scam investors and dealers and have no serious intention of ever bringing the truck here.

I haven't heard anything about making the next model a unibody construction pickup truck, that doesn't make sense with their target customers. I was guessing that maybe they are in a quandary over the poor fuel economy ratings and trying to figure out what to do. Many of us have said one of our primary goals is higher fuel economy without giving up pulling power, so if they can't deliver on the economy they're sunk before they ship the first one. I'm just glad I kept looking for an alternative- if they don't meet the 30 MPG combined that they advertised, I'll feel better about getting something else to drive until Toyota, Ford, Kia, Hyundai or somebody else actually brings a small diesel to market worth buying. I'll tell you what they can do to still sell some of these- price them dirt cheap, lower than dirt. If they won't do that, go back to the drawing board or just stay home.
