New post about the recently released specs and photos of the VW Amarok compact diesel pickup! It matches the Mahindra TR spec sheet pretty closely!

If they ever sell it in the states my guess is Mahindra will have to offer steep price incentives to move any trucks.

Pretty cool truck and if anything VW makes a good diesel as they have many years improving them... I have a feeling that if the VW truck came state side it would be a hell of a lot more $'s then the Mahindra...

That is a nice looking truck.
My problem with all the new trucks is that
their all to fancy to actually put to work.
I wish that all the companies would make a bare bones
truck again.
You know an engine, tranny (most were manual) ,doors and a tailgate
Cheap wheels with caps. You could then dress it how you wanted.

IF they ever do bring the VW here it will be priced in a totally different stratosphere.
My guess is a 2WD would be about 30k to start.

I really do wish for a simple truck or suv. I don't want the rat fur carpeting or seats. Vinyl and rubber please. I also don't want it so stripped that it sounds like a tractor driving 65mph when you are going down the high either, but get rid of the plushness.
Let people order that up if they want it.

I thought is was already confimed that these things wouldn't be in N America?

Besides, as others have said the VW is aimed at a different market than the mahindra will be.

Default us market

Well everything here is guess work. The vw diesel truck does exist and according to my local vw dealer, will be marketed in North America within a year. He mentioned something about getting the appropriate auto tranny and some drive train issues in addition to certifications worked out. His guess was the 4x2 version would be priced close to the Jetta tdi - which goes for around 24-25k. If he is even close - M&M will really have to discount their trucks to get anyone interested. When it comes to small diesel engines and interiors its pretty tough to beat vw at that price point. No one buys more pick ups than Americans - its only natural that they would get into this market. The rumors will fly. They will deny deny deny.- People on this forum will assure us its not coming - but its all about money. If they think the demographics are here and the buying power is here - so will the small vw diesel truck be here!!! Just my opinion. I look forward to the M&M truck but if a small vw truck was going to be introduced - It would take a really special deal to get me into the M&M start up product.

I'm sorry, but that thing looks like a design committee voted on what elements of all the competition were the most similar.

Kinda like an "Out-rige-escape-valanche"

I don't think that Mahindra pickup fans are in a position to cast styling stones at anyone, although an argument could be made that it takes one to know one.

Your right about that. However, I think they did the best out of the 3 without being able to see one in person. One of the benefits about being the last one to make one, you get to take the best features of everyone else's and make the best!
