Remember the Hyundai Excel? Surely Hyundai hopes that you have long forgotten that sad first chapter of their US success story...

The Excel was a great little car. My sister-in law had one back then , great mpg and she put over 300,000 miles on it with no problems ..

Hyundai/Kia...pretty good for a Korean company to show improvement so fast.A korean company also makes certain small displacement Cummins diesels....and another one makes after market 'Revtec' big inch harley engines that we used exclusively in our shop,as well as other builders.THE BEST AFTER MARKET big twin we ever used bar none.

The Chevrolet Aveo, Hyundai Accent , Kia Soul and Rio are basically the same car beneath the sheet metal .

Wait wait... I know the Kia Soul, sir. I've even driven the Kia Soul. And I'm here to tell you that the Chevy Aveo (however it's pronounced...) is no Kia Soul.

(ok, pretty bad interpretation there, but I'm sitting here waiting for Irene to come a-knockin' and have a few minutes before I take one more walk around the house to see what I missed doing that can still be done. My mind is wandering a bit...)

I'm almost sure the Soul and Aveo share the same transmission . I saw a 1985 Toyota 4x4 truck (solid front axle) for sell . I stopped to check it out , this truck for a 1985 is in awesome shape , garage kept 1 owner , 90,000 miles ,no bondo , no rust on the cab and only a couple small spots on the bed and everything works including the ac , R22 4 cylinder 5 speed . The guy wants $5,500 if I can talk him down some it's mine.

I can say there is no way the Aveo and Accent are the same car. Since I consider the Aveo the worst car made, that is falsely accusing the Accent (even if I did decide to spend the extra money for an Elantra).

I think those 2 only share a transmission . I was talking to a Nissan guy recently and he said they would have a Cummins in the NV van in 2013 then shortly after would be the Titan with a Cummins . He also said to expect a Cat diesel in a Toyota about the same time .

The Chevy Aveo is a Daewoo, not a Kia or Hyundai.
