Time will tell if m&m's abject "failure to launch" will benefit the USA in the long run.IF they came out with a US bound diesel truck tomorrow I will not buy one,or anything from m&m.I don't need to.Since the big let down as you know I bought my new chebby and am enjoying good power and decent mpg from the gasser. That's not to say I no longer want a diesel, because I do.It just won't be anything mahindra has it's greasy steenkin paws on.

If anything good came out of it , maybe that could be that other manufacturers saw some support for an economical little fuel efficient truck . The article states M&M may still have a place in the market for a cheap truck ? Is that not what they promised in the " Appalachian " I believe it was originally called ?

Thanks Pete.

I think between the Mahindratastrophy (I should trademark that) and Ford killing the Ranger in December (never mind the fact that it outsold the Fiesta in June), a spotlight shines on this empty niche. It may take a while and we may not see something which completely fills that spot, but more trucks will overlap it.

Great write-up. It's amazing how a company can take a rare opportunity and change it into a lose-lose-lose situation. They have battled with themselves and lost.

And they are so damned arrogant about it all.Oh no big deal. They shot themselves in the foot with me forever,I don't care what they bring into our country.

Yup. Bought a 2011 Subaru Forester last week for the wife. The Subaru dealership had been slated to carry Mahindra, and my long trusted friend and Subaru salesman is pretty disappointed with the whole Mahindra fiasco. It would have been nice to get a diesel TR40 or SUV rather than the Subaru, but at the same time I wish Subaru had also found the proverbial balls to bring their boxer diesel engine over here to the U.S. and make some high mileage Foresters available like the ones in Europe. But alas, it seems diesels are too scary for most manufacturers to step into. I'm enjoying my 2010 Dodge Cummins 3500 anyway.
