I gues I ultimately don't care if its a small V-6 or turbo 4 under the hood sol long as there is some modest twoing/hauling capability, bed/cargo area, enough cab room for 5 people and city mileage about 20 and highway closer to 25-27.

no....... I'd like the 4x4 in Idaho which won't even allow the base 4 cyl (which is anemic BTW). the V-6 model can't perform as well as the new Fords, cost more and aren't as efficient. Toyota has had soem stellar mid-size platforms but has completely neglected everything else. They badly need new power trains and internals (both coming for 2012 I think)

I suspect the next gen Taco to be a little smaller all around and a lot lighter which will help across the board.

I was told by my local Toyota dealer that the new 2012 Taco has been delayed due to the earthquake . From what he said it will possibly share motors with the Highlander , 3.5 I hope . My 2010 Highlander has great power and sips the gas .. In my opinion Toyota has let the Tacoma wither on the vine .
