Register to stop seeing this ad! I'll have to check these out. Everyone is talking about them. How do you pay off $40-$50k before you need a new one?

That's what I worried about with those things- any time you're trying to squeeze more from less, it's gotta be problematic. I heard they designed them with extra robustness to be durable, but it is a new design and that's not the time to buy a vehicle in my book. Let them do a redesign, then fix the bugs in that engine and then maybe it's time to pick one up, unless they still are going for 40 to 50k.

I think Ford is on the right track the the ecoboost concept. It is essenaitlly displacement on demand. I just think the truck is ****ty and needs to be overhauled (yes I know its capable but it is still a fat pig with the aerodynaics of a brick) a 3.0 ecoboost with 390 hp and 390 lbs of torque or 375/375 is plenty especially given the torque curve. It just needs to be in a truck that weighs 700 lbs less. something tells me the BIG changes wont be seen until 2014/2015 when the new CAFE numbers come into effect. Unless I can find a good truck on the used market very cheap I'll just wait. I hope the bad economy and high fuel prices coax a little more trucks on the used market and driving the price down. |

the new motors are nice but that is only about 1/3rd of the equation. I do appreciate the efforts but they have the capability to do more and that is what I expect. None of the other automakers are really doing anything different and I think that is where the frusteration is. Only Hyundai/Kia seem to be moving forward with all new, ground up designs to make improvements over the last couple of years. I know that won't continue into forever but they seem to understand what it is going to take to move by leaps and bounds and they are actually doing it. I have no doubt Ford will step up but I don't like waiting 4-5 years for each 1/3rd of the equation to show up. |
