Default GM Releases Teaser Photo of Next Gen Colorado

Register to stop seeing this ad!

Now that I’ve dug myself out of the 30 inches of snow that fell last night (a TR40 4x4 with a plow would’ve been handy), I can get to the news… Check out PickupTrucks.com for a teaser photo of the new Chevy Colorado that is about to be released in Thailand this year and the US and Canada in 2013-2014.

It looks good for the limited view. But,I liked the styling of the older ones (had a new 07 Z71) for them to make it successful here in the states,it had better be worlds apart from all of the older models. The Colorado/canyon still has the earned reputation as being a unbelievable steaming pile, and obtw, that is a general consensus nationwide.

saw this earlier this morning. I too hope its an improvement but I do think I read that it was largely developed in 2006 & 07. This was not a good time to be GM and I am not sure they really had the ability to make drastic changes. I would likely view this as an evolution of the current Colorad/Canyon and not a whole new truck.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't have a whole lot of hope considering that GM didn't have the resources to make any major changes to the appearance of the full sizers here in the US (although they did make big chassis improvements)

GM's big improvement across the board so far has been in quality control/fit and finish better materials etc..Big redesign coming up for 2013 I think.

Chevy and Dodge have both put out better cars and truck for several years before going belly-up . Problem was they were both riding on an old bad reputation, just like Toyota is riding on an old good reputation.. Toyota has poor quality now compaired to 20 years ago. Chevy and dodge are now just as good as a Toyota and Ford is better than Toyota in quality. My nephew ( who was recently fired from the Toyota assembly plant for getting hurt on a Toyota fork truck which was recalled 2 day later for being defective ) told me they are saying the new Tacoma will be as fuel efficient as the current Camry..

I think sheer physics will prevent them from being anywhere near a Camry in terms of efficeincy but I am sure they will be able to do a lot better.

I think I have mentioned it on here at least a dozen times that aerodynamics is the only thing that will improve the highway mileage and I bet Toyota will address this but I'd still be doubtful of a 4x4 four door truck getting more than say 23 or 24, but that is still an improvement. Maybe they can coax out close to 19 city and have the overall average be over the 20 mpg mark. That alone will sell a lot of Tacomas. It is all I am after.

I've heard it will have a motor from an suv, would have to be the 3.5 from the Highlander case the 4Runner I think already shares the same 4.0 ? I believe it would have to have car like lines (Ridgeline) to come close to a Camry..

aerodynamics, gearing, and weight... and parasitic losses from anything that rotates of course
