This just pushed me over the edge. I'll be damned if I believe a stinkin' word the EPA says and will be buying one of these turds (if they ever get off their collective asses and get here) the moment they hit ground.

If the Fed's hate 'em, then I'm gonna love 'em.

really though... the EPA makes the same standardized tests for all vehicles so everything is an apple-to-apples comparison and you think they are off base?!

I'll keep my big yapper shut on the rest of the things that came to my mind on your post, but trust me all of us are unhappy with the end results and that is Mahindra's fault not the EPA. Maybe they are going back and thinking of just introducing the 3rd generation model that should be lighter and way more aerodynamic. that would fix a lot of the issues here. I am sure that new mHawk diesel needs some tuning work as well. Hopefully Bosch can step in and help them out on that end.

It is a better city rating than anything else out there and frankly not too far off what I thought that mark would be but I really did think the highway would be more like 27 and I can only imagine that the next gen model will be closer to those results.

I think his point is the epa does not like diesel . Fact is diesel will cut big oil profits which will affect political pay-offs to BOTH parties...

My point was that the EPA is not held accountable to anybody (including the President to a certain point) and they're well known for crushing businesses and forcing others to raise consumer prices in order to come in line with their ridiculous demands.

The EPA administers their tests the same way to all vehicles. Real world performance is usually a couple points higher than what their figures are. You may not like the way their test is done, but it has to be standardized in some way, so that reasonable comparisons can be made.

The EPA's figuring of fuel mileage numbers has nothing to do with their emissions standards. You can be mad at the EPA for making diesels conform to the same emission standards as gasoline powered vehicles if you want (Personally I don't think that's an unreasonable requirement, and one which so far everyone has been able to comply with). But don't confuse a poor mileage rating with what you may consider unfair emission standards. The Mahindra trucks mileage rating is Mahindra's problem, no one else's.
