x2 on the EPA - people don't give a damn about CAFE numbers - that is a corporate thing only.
And IF those are the CAFE values (which seems about right) M&M could be in trouble. Basing on a 60/40 city to highway split to determine the average that is used, that comes out to about 26.3 mpg. However, the new standards for light trucks is based on footprint - and they would need to hit about 27.5 given all their sales will be on the same footprint. They are skating a pretty thin line in being non-compliant - and that will cost them.
