Default Mahindra working on 2nd Gen Truck

Register to stop seeing this ad!

News is spreading today that Mahindra is working on a 2nd gen pickup truck. It’s been several years since Mahindra dedicated to launching their TR20 and TR40 model pickup trucks in the United States. We still don’t have any pickup trucks, but according to Mahindra Planet, we do have word of a next generation pickup truck with over a 1 ton capacity. Many are growing weary that an Indian based diesel pickup will ever reach the States. In any case, it’s good to know that they are making our imaginary pickup bigger and better.

they'd be talking payload capacity, like the TR20 was said to have a 1.38 ton payload capacity, this one has something over 1 ton payload carrying ability. If you load your truck up like the Indians do with their commercial vehicles, and then drive them on roads like the Indians have, you would want something really stout (you may lose some fillings with the rough ride, and it may be in low gear going up a hill, but at some point in time you expect to reach your destination with the goods). The TR20 was designed for Indian drivers and roads, so it might make a good off-road vehicle as well. A strong frame and stiff springs would be good for payload capacity, but probably not so good for ride comfort.

Yesterday I traded my 08 JK in for a 2011 1500 silverado 4x4 Z71.reg cab, standard box.I ain't waiting around for no one or any damned company that's full of maybes and mights,or we just don't think the market will go for it.SCREW them all. There now,I feel much better. My cat-back flowmaster 40 duals will be installed a week from tomorrow.Next will be a CAI.Yes I'll post pics just as soon as I buy a new digital camera.Mine died of a nervous condition,it keep on eating batteries and it got nervous when it realized it's way up in the air........and it didn't know how to fly.Guess I showed it I wasn't gonna keep feeding it.

This is really sad, all the hype and all the broken promises………. At this rate, I’m doubting they will ever make a diesel application here in the United States.

Mornin' Pete,yes..............I bought a chebby.I was all ready to pull the trigger on the f150 until........the Ford off road pkg was the only way to get skid plates and I don't like ford's idea of their off road pkg.3:73's with a pos electric locker that can only be used in 4whl dr.That is bull****.I don't need gearing that low either, hell it comes with a 6 spd auto with tow/haul mode. And the last straw was my growing uncertainty with the all new engine lineup.I hate being a guinea pig on my money.

I found a chebby with everything I wanted for a price I had no problems with so I done bought it.Victory red/blk int.,Z71 with the Eaton G-80 auto locker,( I had one of those before and they are AWESOME),reg cab standard box (6 1/2 ft) with a 8900 lbs tow rating,3:42 gears with a 6 spd tow/haul auto.I checked mpg and right now with a bit over 200 miles,I'm getting 18.3.Not bad for a full size that has no miles on it yet.

I got the "turn by turn" onstar navigation and it blew me away, especially when I went "off route" to swing thru micky d's for some gut burgers,LOL.It forgave me when I hit the road again, damn thing works so good it's kinda spooky. The stereo kicks ass too.I have a power driver seat with lumbar support which means this ol' fart is nice and comfy.

This thursday a flowmaster 40 cat-back system goes in,along with a set of black heartthrob resonator tips, they will kill the inherent drone from the 40's.Ordered my Ventvisors too.Next month come the CAI.I'll be doing the duplicolor kevlar bed liner kit in the spring time, followed by a tonneau cover. That should pretty much be it...............for awhile

IF a Mahindra truck ever becomes available on these shores, it will probably have a POS 15MPG V6 or V8 under the hood...and be so "Americanized" that NOBODY will want to buy one.
