My read on this is now m&m will hold off until they have a gen II ready for the USA instead of bringing in an already outdated model.

I wish I could see evidence that the competition was waking up and preparing a reply to this truck, but the situation looks like it is set to become a vacuum- in that there will be no more compact pickup trucks in the U.S. market and sales will be zero, thereby proving to analysts that there is no market for compact pickups in the U.S.

I can appreciate a contrary opinion because it can shed more light on a subject, but I don't exactly understand what you mean. I know the American business culture and the Indian business culture are sometimes in opposition- for instance, as an American I might view Mahindra's actions as outrageous, unethical and borderline illegal. If I were an Indian I might view GV's actions as weak and pathetic, deserving of contempt (I would say pusillanimous but that would be showing off). Which one is right? They're doing business in this country so I might say the local rules apply, but of course if I were an Indian I might have a different response, perhaps something along the lines of "this is international business, not local, and therefore the rules are different.
What else am I missing?

Wasn't GV contracted by m&m to set up the dealer networks and import the vehicles? Are not the dealer networks in place as we speak? Please enlighten me as to their "incompetence".

Did they not allow their contract to expire after they had extended it many times? Nowhere have I read that Mahindra said they wouldn't renew it or extend it.

That is incompetence. When they realized what happened they sued to make Mahindra honor it anyway.
