Good article...thanx.It goes a long way to reinforcing my original thoughts on m&m..........caveat Emptor,.."buyer beware".No faith in m&m what so ever.Simply put, they (m&m) are nothing more then a third world company with a third world mentality and are used to changing the rules as they go.They might win a round or two before it's all settled, but I predict that in the end they will be either forced to adhere to the original contract,or reimburse all parties for their time and investment capital.

Mahindra -- Old, successful worldwide corporation with a brilliant international reputation.

GV -- Corporation that has sold nothing but hopes and dreams.

Now who do I trust in this?

Trust whoever you want, and they ain't so old.And I wouldn't call them brilliant either. They might enjoy a "good reputation" in other third world countries, but not here and that is what counts to me.How they do business, can they be trusted HERE? I think not.And just what recourse would we,the consumer have if one bought a m&m truck here (IF they ever get here) and they decide not to honor the warranty?Kinda like them NOT honoring the contract with GV? You give them your money and I'll wait for my jeep truck.

Not to mention that Mr. Perez (GV) has a piss poor track record in the auto industry with at least one other past failure and millions lost to those dealers (many of whom were rolled into this new adventure with Mahindra).

We are demonizing M&M for typical business practices merely becuase of where they come from and the fact we all feel that they are holding us up on getting the trucks we want. I am sure there are plenty of fingers to point with here but they do have a good track record, yes even here in the US (the farm implement division).

None of us knows anything other than our own speculation and I am not going to pass any judgement on either side because it doesn't functionally do anything to help the process. I just want the trucks here and hopefully that will bring some added competition.

I am puzzled by your constant defense of basically stab in the back business practices. Though common, I get the impression that it is standard operating procedure. I know they vary by state, but I thought verbal agreement laws exist to combat that practice.

And Mahindra has to think this through. The author said it all to me when he said:

"Given how Mahindra has treated its US distributorship, one wonders whether its customer service is equally unrelenting."

I am not trying to provide a defense because these practices are not morally right (to me anyway) but they are common and something that should be accounted for and who knows who really is trying to pull a fast one here.

Business are only in business to create wealth for shareholders, not to gain warm fuzzies from the public or any other sources. I don't blame GV or M&M for trying to maximize their profits via legal channels.

As far as verbal agreements try watching Judge Judy to see how leagally binding those are. It is what is in writing that counts and the end of the day. That goes for Fortune 500 companies and individuals alike.

I don't seem to recall any kind of discontent when toyota came here,or honda,or more recently hyndai/kia? In fact,I can't remember any auto company that came here to do business in the last 44 years when I bought my first car ever having any kind of problem like this.Hell,I can't even remember any foreign business of any consequence that has had a publicity fiasco like what is going on between GV and m&m.Please, enlighten me.
