If they are still in arbitration than yes, it is a stunt by GV. But its also a stunt by M&M to send out a press release about it.

Then again, since all this lawsuit stuff happened, GV has had trouble getting financing so maybe M&M just doesn't think they would be able to pay for that order anyway

Default So what is that Cummins diesel site?

So Mahindra has basically announced that they will try to take over the distributor network, and if they can't do that they will use another (their own tractor dealers?). Global has indicated that they are not going to sit back and take it. The courts have indicated that Global has a case worth hearing. It looks like Mahindra's tactic of delaying the EPA certification will backfire on them- no trucks are going to be sold here for the foreseeable future.

As disappointing as it may be for some consumers, I bet the dealers must be privately upset. If I were a dealer, I'd be pulling for Global to come out on top, because no way would I want to deal direct with Mahindra.

Perhaps the most disappointing thing for me is to think that Ford and Toyota and the others are breathing a sigh of relief- now they don't have to do anything to respond, it's business as usual. Stick a fork in this truck, it's done.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that m&m rejected the order. It ain't over by a long shot.m&m wants to take over the dealer network put together by GV.The judge presiding over this case sees this I'm sure. Also,at least with the info here on this site,it seems obvious that m&m tried to sandbag GV out of the picture using the delay tactics/epa cert etc.IF....the judge sees thru all of this and I think he will,he rules in favor of GV,m&m then has to accept the order and the trucks come in.

Angry Will NOT purchase in 2011

Both the GV $35M and M&M rejection are not surprising. While these folks are in court everything else is "positioning" or plan old confuse-the-issue noise.

In the end the trucks will arrive here much later then December 2010 or not at all.

I've decided NOT to purchase in 2011.

Will give Ford and Jeep time to reflect. A Ranger with the I-4 eco-boost or the concept Jeep with a light diesel might get on the production schedule for 2012. I can wait, just more time to build that down payment . . . . and at this rate my mid-size pick-up down payment will be 100% the purchase price.

I won't actually be purchasing either until mid year 2012 and I sure hope I have a few products to choose from. Toyota is due for a new truck (i know it was mildly updated this year) and maybe we'll get the diesel form the Hilux if Toyota sees other companines making headway here. Perhaps Nissan will h ave the smaller Frontier out by then but based on their comments over the last 6 months I am not confidnet they can completely engineer an entire vehicle from scratch and have it tested in that time frame.

Sad but true, unless a judge forces them to kiss and make-up..

Right from the get go I had planned on sitting out the first model year, just like I would do with ANY new model car or engine, regardless of what company builds it or what country it's manufactured in. Maybe you guys are correct and the competition will have something comparable on the market by that time. I like to think that you will be.

Nobody thought those goofy little boxy Scion things would sell. Lo and behold, they sold like hotcakes...and it wasn't long at all before Nissan and Kia had a comparable vehicle on the market!

Sadly this is just the way the Indians do business. We think of it as being shameful the word they use for this kind of practice is "clever". I had some friends go to work over there flying jets and they ran into this practice time and time again.

Too bad for Mahindra and us consumers those tatics wont fly here in the good ole U.S. courts. And just knowing thats how they operate will discourage many of us truck buyers who are among the most loyal around.
