Diamler recently discontinued the Sterling truck line, and this is the projected parts availability as per their website:

Proprietary Sterling parts: 10 years
Proprietary Sterling Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Parts :7 years
Legacy Ford parts: 3 years
10 years is what I have always heard too. I'm not sure how enforceable that is if a company goes belly-up ?

See Sludge this is what chaps my ass as well. Seems as though there's so many clueless individuals out there whom when you mention a fuel-efficient engine option you'll here the old standard "You'd hafta keep it XX amount of years and drive it YY amount of miles...blah blah blah, numbers numbers numbers, figures figures figures, et cetera, ad nauseum..."...yet those same individuals wouldn't hesitate one second to drop all the extra coin on satnav, OnStar, rear seat DVD entertainment systems, automatic ass scratchers, and a whole bunch of other extraneous crap that I do not want or need on a vehicle.

Didn't Denise McCluggage just say that in her Autoweek article? (maybe not the ass scratchers...)
She's right of course...

Isn't Denise McCluggage the one who ripped FoMoCo to shreds when they announced that they weren't going to sell the 65MMPG Focus diesel on this side of the Atlantic?

She's my hero[ine?]!

I love the quoting of the Euro mileage that the magazines always do. Drop about 30% off those numbers and you'll be on the high end of what they can do. Still 40-45 mpg on the highway would make a nice commuter for a lot of people.

I commute through the city and do about 65-75% of all my driving in the city so I chose a hybrid. I think if they had that 2.0 diesel (maybe it was 2.2 I can't remember) they could use it in an updated Ranger and maybe even the Fusion
