We should definitely not forget about these things. Another fun fact is that Mahindra has been successfully selling tractors in the US since ’94. And they are going to acquire Ssangyong. These guys are definitely going places and I’m sure they’re going to come to the US. The only unknown now is the exact date. We won’t know until the dust settled from the legal saga with GV. Let’s hope for the best!

We are all hoping for the best! I want to see them succed becuase it will force some competition back into this area. I'd love to see 3 or 4 Ranger sized trucks running around with solid capabilities and efficient engines.

The current crop of "mid sizers" are too big and no more efficient than their big brothers. At least Nissan has commited to making the Frontier more compact, efficient and capable than this current generation and likely a bit cheaper too. (by cheap I mean inexpensive )

I keep saying that the commercial market realy needs a smaller truck with capable payloads. Make them cheap, solid and efficient (diesel or a small boosted gasser) and they'll sell over 100,000 units a year.

Default If they can't supply their domestic market?????

Supply constraints

While giving insights on the Mahindra's sales getting affected due to shortage of parts, Jejurikar added: "In the domestic market, our firm is plagued by a severe shortage for tires, castings and fuel injection pumps and as a result of it, we are losing around 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles every month in sales. As efforts are on to solve the supply of auto components, nevertheless, it would take a longer while before we actually get back into full throttle of delivering market requirements".

Anyone getting one of the first of the trucks may end up like those that had the Wankel powered MAZDAs sitting in their driveways waiting on parts from Japan...

Well, in order for Mahindra to sell truck here, they have to have a company on the ground here, that can be "served papers" so to speak. Just like Toyota and the others. Toyota USA is only one of three parts of the Toyota ownership in the USA. There are still two hold outs that own the other two parts of Toyota here. The SW and Southern region are privately owned.
That being said, how is Mahindra going to land here without a USA based company to distribute their products? They can't do it. It was stupid for them to pull this little trick on GV. I think GV has a very strong case in the sense that, from what I have read, the intent of the "out clause" was to allow both parties to walk away if the trucks were not going to be able to enter the country. Now that it appears that they are going to be allowed to enter the country, then Mahindra should make good on the deal. All personal feelings or personality conflicts aside. This is just business. GV did their part, now Mahindra should buck up and get there huge ego out of it. That is what all of this seems to be coming down to. Either greed, which makes no sense when talking about a company the size of Mahindra - Mahindra or just plane old EGO factor. They don't want some little company in the Great USA pushing them around. I can't blame GV. I would be in there punching away.
I can say this on a smaller scale, because I had to do this with one of my parts manufacturers from Australia once. They decided they would just go around me, now that I have opened up the market here in North America. They very quickly saw it my way, but I could have just a easily sat back a let them walk on me. I beg your pardon.... not this Texas boy...
Way to go GV... Keep on punchin...

Both sides are blaming the other....go figure. I am sure there are 17 other things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about that might make a lot of sense of what is going on and I am sure it all revolves around money, either directly or indirectly.

May be so, but if I had spent over 4 years and $35 million on a project, I damn sure wouldn't step aside when everything finally came together, unless they offered to buy me out for a reasonable profit.

That may be what they are doing. GV may have found little interest in the truck from the public and wants out with money in hand so they hold the dealer network of 350 hostage for say $50M or else Mahindra has to start from scratch and likely for more money than the $50M.
