I doubt he meant that no one else competes in the mid-size markets but that tey have the most unique and best/efficient vehciles in this market. That would be a true statement.

I tend to agree w/ Chris (mostly because he pays me to). The interview is of course undated, which we have seen before from the Indian press, but the interviewee doesn't seem to understand what we have here. The TRs are one thing, but I'm not so sure their SUV is gonna be a hit here. There are several SUV/crossovers getting more than 30 highway, the average consumer still won't buy a diesel, and that market prizes looks. That's three strikes in my book.

But what SUV gets 30 mpg that can also tow anything?

the Indian press is strange to me. Check out this piece: M&M, Global Vechicles in legal tussle over entry in US - CNBC-TV18 -

They give no sources to back up their statements, but this sounds just wacky enough to have an element of truth.

A thought- if in fact there is/was/will be a move by M&M to get control of the distribution away from the GV people or buy them out, maybe the delay in launch was to wait until that effort had played out.

The Scorpio won't be able to tow either. I think most people do 0% towing with a mid-size SUV or CUV but if they do it is likely under 3000# and even the unibodies can do that. If someone needs to haul 7 people and tow anything remotely heavy they own a tahoe, suburban, yukon, etc.

I would hope that the Scorpio has solid aerodynamics and can go well beyond 30 mpg since at speed aerodynamics matters way more than power or weight ever could. Its a property of exponential growth in the volume of air that the vehicle has to move.

I think the Scorpio's claim to fame will be its longevity with a diesel and better city mpg and therefor combined mileage.

Plus.....it gives m&m the delay they might need to bring in the gen II's.Either way, they are trying to put it too GV and I think that is wrong on all levels.

Wow, nice find PeeWee. It is a typical Indian press piece that gives no sources (like the interview at the start of this thread). Sometimes I read those articles and think that they are reading my blog and our comments on the forum to create news. The theory that they want to utilize Mahindra USA for distribution does make some sense though.

If this is really the case, will the dealers stay loyal to GV or side with Mahindra? Maybe GV hasn't been the best at communicating with the dealers in the past, but it's obvious at this point that Mahindra themselves are causing the product delays.

All this trouble is not looking good to the public and futute buyers. I really feel for the dealers. They are the ones taking the blunt of it all.I bet it's really starting to burn their biscuits. Months ago I read that Mahindra has never entered a market and then pulled out . I hope that is true and that continues.

I would be happy with 3000 pounds. The RV I am leaning twoards purchasing weighs 2270 pounds, which means about 2750 loaded. There is a market out there for that since I see things like Toyota vans pulling lighter loads.

I do not know anything that can pull 3000 pounds and get 30 highway. 20 city would be even better.
