Delays due to a lawsuit would be ironic indeed. Good article.

Thanks, Andy.

The tone, to me anyway, comes across as setting up for further delays. Almost like they are saying: Man, we were all set to pull the trigger in December, but those darned crazy GV guys… they decided to sue us and threw a wrench in the works. Now we are just going to have to delay things further…

Just send over the trucks. Problem solved. Pay GV whatever they need to cover costs and cut them loose if that’s the plan, but get those trucks here ASAP to start making back that investment. Am I missing something or is this common sense? This is why I would never make it as a CEO/CFO.

Seems to me they are learning the US culture well. The way to suceed is to never take responsibility and blame somebody else.

I agree, just another reason for a delay...

On the other hand we would already have Mahindra here if it was not for the POLITICS of what we are ALLOWED to have with the current EPA regulations...Now if WV can only get rid of Jay Rockefeller we could possibly have senators from WV for the first time in 30 plus years...

If you are going to make the arguement that the EPA is bad then you also need to cite regulations requiring things like seatbelts, crash-test standards, etc as bad too. heaven forbid that they add this worthless junk into a car to keep us safe.

The bad guys here are Mahindra for not doing what they are supposed to. Its not like the EPA wrote a new regulation specifically making things harder solely for Mahindra. They have known for years what the requirements were for testing and they should have had a plan in place so they could meet thier goals... ON TIME!

the EPA has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with science, if the science proves that diesel emissions are not harmful then they should lower the standards

Chris is right (as -almost- always) , just another reason for delay. They have their hands in everything from motorbikes to airplanes, buying up companies left and right, claim to have all kinds of R&D agreements w/ other companies, have launched essentially the same truck in Austrailia and South America (yeah, the engine is different but they have that too in other markets), and we now might go past December '10? The work would appear to be done for cert, and really, existing body/chassis so exisiting tooling and past the learning curve. How long could it take to build up a bunch for sale?
Oh well. Not popping for another truck yet, but it's getting closer...

Things like seatbelts and crash-test standards are fine. I for one believe they should be optional. It is extra cost and although they are a good thing I believe there are alot of people like myself who don't care to have anything more than a standard seat belt.

It is a topic for a new thread but since it was mentioned here I'm going with it.Being forced to wear a seat belt really angers me. It isn't just seat belts though its cellphones its healthcare its all the choices we have lost in my lifetime. Its a never ending cycle of orders. Its like having parents orchestrating your entire life.

As for the EPA standards. Apparently they believe the diesel emmissions adversely affect the ozone. Although there is as much contradictory information the people that are running the show believe it so that is what we are going with. Anyone wanting in has to meet those standards, period.
