Seriously, why can’t they get that truck together and start selling them here? I absolutely think Mahindra is a great company and I hate to say it, but I am beginning to wonder if they have serious concerns about some element of that truck. What other reason can there be?

Bulls eye. I think there is a problem, possibly with the new motor ? I also think we will see the F-100 in late 2011.. I think Ford is keeping it quiet cause it was going to kill F-150 and Ranger sales in the next year. Too many guys with Ranger were going to hold off for the larger F-100 , and F-150 owners were saying they were holding off for the smaller F-100??? And the Euro Diesel Ranger spotted here is a decoy...

All indications that the Ranger is dead and the f-100 was dead before that. Look for an F150 model with an ecoboost 4 cylinder for fuel economy and fleet users.

Maybe they didn't like the numbers that came out of the testing and are trying to get to the magic MPG numbers they promised.

You have to admire the ability of this company to keep things secret in this day and age.

Mahindra is in business to make money and there must be some reason they don't think they can profitably sell the trucks here. There are too many possible reasons to intelligently speculate.

Maybe they don't think they can absorb the chicken tax
Maybe they are worried about market acceptance
Maybe the mileage estimates are closer to 25 than 30
Maybe there are issues with the new drivetrain
Maybe they are worried about crash tests
Maybe they are worried about more labor issues in India
Maybe they are worried about meeting 2014 emission standards
Maybe they are debating if they should wait for the next generation truck
...

It doesn't seem likely that they take the December launch date very seriously. Look at all the buzz surrounding the Nissan Leaf and Chevy volt. Neither of those vehicles are currently available and both will only appeal to a limited demographic, but they are being heavily promoted and you can find gobs of information on them. Even the Yugo was promoted more than the Mahindra. Mahindra must have some marketing folks telling them you can't just show up and expect to sell enough to make a profit.

If they come put and say they don't feel competitive with this truck but the replacement model will be out in 18 months then at least we'd know something and they would kind of stick to their word of making sure they have the best possible product upon roll-out so as not to scare away the consumer. it took Hyundai around a decade to recover from a bad entry and only in the last 2-3 years is anyone taking them seriously as a globally competitive automaker.

It looks like m&m is really trying to sabotage the deal with GV.Personally,as I see it,they need to settle up with GV and the dealers that in good faith put up their money, then leave the country. All they have shown is bad form.
