That makes sense, Dfreakyindian...

More than once in my life I have not followed that thought process and ended up looking pretty foolish...

Perhaps, but they aren't trying to market to India. Here, when u say you're going to do something, it's expected that you will follow through.
Then again, they said they were coming mmm...twoish years ago now I believe and haven't yet, so maybe you're parents are correct...

I don’t know about that. True, Pawan did say he’s only “fairly confident” about a December 2010 launch date but in the past week he’s been featured in three major publications saying the same thing (NYTimes, WSJ, Automotive News). I’m guessing this media blitz means he has pretty clear ideas on the progress of the launch.

I think the delays are due to the fact that Mahindra needs to get the launch right the first time. As Pawan says, they only have once chance to get it right. I think we can all predict consumers’ reaction if the product does not meet their expectations. Mahindra is promising us a lot: a compact diesel workhorse that offers F-150-like payload and upwards of 30 MPG.

F-250 payload. No half ton is in the ball park of the Mahindra.
