Default 3rd row seat?

Register to stop seeing this ad!

Will the Scorpio have a 3rd row seat for extra passengers? The Ford Edge and Subaru Tribeca have 3rd row seat options that are handy for hauling kids.

Anyone heard anything?

Default third row seats are in India

here is link to the Mahindra India site that has a cheesy but somewhat informative video as well as links to more info:
:: Welcome to Mahindra Scorpio Refresh ::

there is definitely a third row seat, they describe it as 7 or 8 passenger.

I would think that the product they bring here will be basically the same format, if different in some details.

MSRP on those in India work out to 15,800 to 21,700 USD, FYI.

Go Bulldogs.
Great city, Duluth, my good friend ex-navy MP is from Duluth.
The Scorpio looks like a good family hauler, snow or mud.

Edmunds has a listing for the 2011 Mahindra at a base price of $19,500 which sounds good for what you might be getting. And I say might because I'm not sure of the load-out specs that will be available in the USA.

Keep in mind the 25% Chicken Tax they will have to pay for importing finished products into the US. This will affect the pricing once it is announced.

Well if that's true then Pawan Goenka misspoke.

According to Pawan Goenka, president of global auto sales for Mahindra, the additional import and assembly costs will be absorbed by the company and not factored into the trucks' retail prices.

Interesting....they list the TR40 at $23,700
2010 Mahindra TR40 optional equipment at Edmunds

If the chicken tax truly isn't a part of these prices, that means a TR-40's base price is close to $30K.
$23,700 * 1.25 = $29,625.00

I'm betting the chicken tax is already included or a part of the $23,700 price.

Hopefully the tax is not built into the price. Pawan says not and in Andy's talk with John Perez, Andy reported.

"As far as pricing goes, they are expecting that they will not make any money on the sales of the initial Indian made Mahindra trucks due to the chicken tax. However, whether made in India or the US, they plan on pricing the vehicle to be as affordable as possible to the consumer. It does not sound like they are planning a sudden price drop on the US made ones."

I think Mahindra is going to absorb the chicken tax until a factory is opened up in North America.
