Scorpio VLX 2010 skids on sudden braking

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I was driving at the speed of 80KM, suddenly a cyclist who was waiting on the left hand side of the road, cycled to right side of the road without seeing on the road and without giving any signal just crossed me. In order to save him I applied the brakes with full force, the vehicle stopped, but it skidded a little and I felt that wheels brushed against some thing. So i want to know that is skidding a normal feature with ABS in scorpio or not?
