Default Howdy Folks - UteMan here

Howdy everybody. I just joined the forum. Good to see so many folks are into the new Mahindra diesel trucks. I have been onto these guys for about a year now. I have a company that builds and imports aluminum beds/trays from Australia and we already build a tray for the Mahindra in the land down unda'. Being in the industry, I have also been bugging the big three and Toyota for many years now about getting diesel engines in the smaller trucks. I saw someone in another post asking why they haven't done it yet. Well I can tell you that they have been running up against the same issues that Mahindra is facing right now. The bloody EPA in the US of A is the problem. It is too expensive to make it worth the bother. Look at the new full size Diesel trucks from Ford/GM/Dodge. The exhaust systems alone are over $10,000. (particulate filters, urea canisters, after burners, dead animals and what ever else they can push in there.) It is ridiculous. (Don't get me started, well maybe in another post) Anyway, the inner-cooled turbo diesels that Ford/GM/Toyota have in Australia are pretty sweet. This Mahindra is the first step in the right direction for the US market. They can build these outrageous exhaust systems a lot cheaper in India, so that is how they can keep these trucks affordable. I have had discussions with them about our Ute Tray / Ute Beds, like the ones we provide for GM Colorado/Canyon trucks. Told them we can set it up so that the dealerships can order/sell them with the Ute Tray already installed. They would be on what is called a "ship through" basis and would just show up at the dealership that way. The importer of Mahindra USA is not ready for that move just yet, so I guess we will have to get this going on our own, for the time being. I have several inquiries from Mahindra dealers since most of their customers on the "wait lists" are tradesmen. Maybe we can get a special order going and do a special deal for Mahindra Truck Forum members. We did this years ago for Dodge Ram Bullbars and it worked out really well for everyone.

Anyway.... I am happy to be here. Feel free to send me your comments.
Best Regards to all,
Ute Man

PICTURES!!! We want to see the product line up that you have for the Aussies.

There are a number of people on here that have commented on a flat bed option. If you can provide it you might have a few takers here.

Not yet. The USA bunch is pretty tight lipped about them and they have only been in Australia for a short time. They were not released yet, when I went over early last year. I have heard good things though. And look at the payload....2600 lbs. The closest small truck to that hear is the Colorado/Canyon chassis cab with our Ute Bed on it at just over 2000 lbs payload. All other standard small/medium pickup trucks in the USA are between 800 and 1600 lbs max payload. including the standard Colorado/Canyons.
Cheers,
UteMan

Welcome to the site! I would love the have a Mahindra pickup with a flatbed...not sure what I would use it for. But I've always loved the look of a good flatbed truck.
