Trailers are a great idea for getting away and being able to leave the campsite without having to fold everything up, however, if you are going four wheeling or into the back country a trailer could be cumbersome. With the slide on camper, like the Escape Pod, you can set up camp, drop the support posts and drive out from under the camper. That way you can camp anywhere your truck will take you. That is, where ever your "loaded" truck will take you.
Cheers,

A truck camper is also handy when you are already towing a trailer for another purpose (e.g. horses).

With the phenomenal advertised payload capacity of the Mahindra TR20, it should easily haul any of the truck campers marketed for "compact" pickups with room to spare.

The bed length of the TR40 could pose some problems with truck camper center of gravity...

And some states prohibit people from being in a trailer when towed. That's why some people choose motor homes. Not sure about campers though.

Dear Steve,
Great idea.
You will have to keep us updated with any new information regarding camping accessories as well as photos of the completed project.
