Been waiting a while now for the Mahindra to come out, need to replace a 2006 Tundra. Got a daughter in college in Mississippi who is a softball player and we live in Texas and will be making a lot of trips so was wanting smaller truck with good MPG and could put the miles on it with out feeling like wearing it out for the price. Got a deal offered on a 2008 Chevy duramax that is good. Need something from Mahindra on a date for final decision.

I was checking 09 dmax's and they just aren't worth the $50k for me. The sweet spot for me seems to be the 06 and 07 dmax's with the LBZ engine and 6 spd allison. The LMM engine began in 07.5 with the diesel particulate filter and slightly worse fuel economy.

I just don't see the justification in purchasing the Duramax versus continuing to drive the Tundra. My brother has a 2007 with the big 8 in it and gets around 17-19 mpg driving from NM to TX.

I will continue the wait...

Default Yep, time is short

In response to Mulehead, I too am getting short on time. I have several factors that I am waiting for to come together in order to buy a new vehicle. If the Mahindra is not available at that time, I will have to go elsewhere. Right now, I am leaning towards a Ford Ranger. Is there anyone else getting tired waiting?

I am in the same boat as you guys. I am would like to have a new truck by the end of February, thinking of getting the Tacoma.
Talk to a future Mahindra dealer yesterday. Nice guy, but he told me that the trucks will not be available for sale until April.
"There is no other way to put it, they are about to start production of the trucks in February"
So, don't count on it before April.
A took a very close look at the Tacoma this Weekend, test drove it and all. Checked out the Tacoma forum... Milage of those trucks for everyday, no cargo has been 15-17 mph in city, the best on Hwy is 20mph!!
It is a very nice, confortable and tough truck. But to average 18-19mph on everyday ride it sucks!! In fact, it is a shame that the put out new 2010 V6 trucks getting this lousy milage!!!
So, I decide that I am just have to find a way to be patient with Mahindra, or I will probably kick my self in the butt, when those trucks finally arrive in April!!
PS: The Mahindra truck Crew cab will be the same size as the Tacoma, so that is pretty good news!

Sometimes it wears on me but I am in the same boat. I probably would kick myself too if I didn't wait for the Mahindra. I feel like I've been waiting forever. I had promised myself that I would buy a new truck when I reached 60. Now I am 61 and have been waiting for a TR20 for over a year. Luckily my '92 F250 Keeps chugging along.

Default when they will arrive....

I did some research and managed to figure out that Dick Smith Ford in Raytown (Metro Kansas City) MO is a dealer. I asked the sales manager about availability timeline and he said that the rollout would start with east-coast dealers sometime in Feburay 2010 and work it's way west to Kansas city by Mid-March.

Your Reality may vary from this...
