Hello!

My name is Andy, I'm the guy that started this site. I've been watching and waiting for the Mahindra, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it. I love trucks. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Andy

Default Hello

Hi-
My name is Brett. I would love to buy a fuel efficient yet capable small truck. I would need a 4wd and 4 door version. However, I will not be buying one for $25,000 or more. So I guess I am just a curious observer at this point.

My name's Hugh. I've been hoping for a small diesel pickup for ~5 years, especially since we bought a VW Jetta TDI sedan a couple of years ago. A turbo diesel is a perfect powerplant for a truck.

At this point my only option is to swap a diesel into an existing small truck, which is something I'm seriously considering. If the Mahindra truck turns out to be a good vehicle at a decent price, I'd buy one and avoid that hassle.

Brett

A couple of good forums:

VW TDI swaps: http://forums.tdiclub.com/forumdisplay.php?f=63
Cummins and various other swaps: http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/index.php

There are several other diesel forums with threads on diesel engine swaps as well.

A couple of specific swaps of interest:

Ford Ranger with Kubota diesel: http://www.dieselbombers.com/diesel-...nger-swap.html
Ford Explorer with Cummins 3.3L diesel: http://mooktank.com/?cat=4

The main problem I see is that there is almost no standardization among these swaps. You can buy some off-the-shelf parts like engine to transmission adapters for some engines and some transmissions, but almost everything else has to be custom-made (engine mounts, linkages, wiring, etc.). Making the electronics work on the more modern engines like the latest TDI's appears very involved as well.

thanks for the quick info Hugh. I will check it out, although I am really just curious. I doubt I could find the time for anything like that in the near future.

that's great. Since info is so hard to come by on these trucks -- it will be nice to have someone around that is in contact with Global Vehicles. Thanks Chris.
