Default The question will be, Will you buy a Mahindra in September if Frontier diesel in July

Hey guys, the way it looks, that September date may become a reality. Now I am thinking... if Mahindra makes me wait until September ( I hope not!!) and there is a chance that Frontier may be coming up with diesel around the corner, lets say July, would you still buy a Mahindra ??!!
Food for thought!!!
Cheers.

I am having a difficult time understanding why Mahindra can't get their vehicles here. I know they have to pass certifications and standards and all that stuff. However, they knew all that before they started this and you'd think they'd have figured how to get past all that before they make their big announcement about releasing their vehicles to the American market......and then they can't deliver. It's been years since they announced to the world that they're going to deliver to the good ole USA. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. That's a bad way for a new (to America) manufacturer to begin business.

Now you have a known manufacturer with a good reputation already announcing they may bring over their mid-sized pickup with diesel engine. Nissan has been successfully producing these diesels for many years so you know they're quality built diesel engines and quality built pickups.

I'd say given the track record of Nissan over Mahindra and I'd have to go with Nissan.

I looked at the Frontier at the local auto show a few weeks ago and the Nissan representative said there were no plans to import a diesel. I am guessing this rumor started from a old announcement in 2008-2009 when Toyota, Ford, GM, and Ram all said they would put diesels in 1/2 ton pickups. All those announcements have since been reversed.

Nissan made an announcement that they were going to redesign the Frontier to make it more like the old hard body pickup. It will be smaller, cheaper, and more fuel efficient. They made no mention of adding a diesel. The redesign won't be available before 2014.

If Nissan would put a diesel in the Frontier and it would have similar capabilities to the V6 Frontier and be under $30K, Mahindra wouldn't have a chance.

Assuming Mahindra eventually brings their trucks here, they will be the only diesel game in town for many years.
