Default Any bikers in the Forum?? I am wondering if I will fit my bike in the trunk of TR-40?

Register to stop seeing this ad!

Hey guys, I am sure that I am not the only biker here!
I have been riding for 30ys, have owned 10 bikes so far, I have owned Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, Triumph and presently a Harley St.Glide.
I have taken a few trips with my former Titan truck (short bed) and put my ex Dyna in the bed. But the street glide may not fit on the short bed of the TR-40. I hate to have to buy a trailer, but I may have too, if I want to take a family trip and yet bring my bike....
Anyway, tell me, what do you ride? Will you be using your truck for it !??
Cheers
David- Nashville

Nasty old Scooter-trash here!!

And I've never trailered my scoot or put it the bed of a truck (the crash on I-5 in Washington state doesn't count).

Triumph Thunderbirds rock!

Could you manage with the tailgate down and a bed extender? That is the only way I could see it fitting.

Long time "lurker" on the site, but finally decided to sign up with all the buzz that these trucks are actually around the corner.

I'm looking at the TR20 so I can get my ride ('85 FXRT-Super Glide) to the Dr. in case of emergency. It fit (sort of) in the back of a friend's Tacoma once, but the rear wheel was on the tailgate and the front wheel was cocked into the front corner of the bed so I wasn't able to ratchet it down straight. Made it to the shop okay, but would rather not try that again.

The one big sticking point that may prevent me from taking the plunge when they finally hit the road is the lack of a manual transmission...

Hey Dick, I agree, the Triumph Thunderbird Sport Rocks! I had a yellow and black one. I really liked that bike, it was hard to part with it.
Dyna is also an awsome bike, I used to have a beautiful red FXDCI !

It sucks but I start to think that I will have to buy a truck and a trailer, and I hate that! I always hoped to get it all in the back of the truck, but the bed is so darn short.
Mahindra, make an long bed as a option for the TR-40 as Tacoma & Frontier have !!!!

If it doesn't fit, my guess would be that you could give a call to the guys at Precision Bodyline (creators of the Dodge Megacab Longbed Conversion) and they could make it work. Also, I am a longtime motorcycle rider both on and off road. Currently my stable consists of 2000 Kawasaki ZR-7, 1998 Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic (bobber project), 1979 Yamaha XS650 Special, 2002 Suzuki DRZ400S, and 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650.

Long bed conversion sounds like a great idea, unfortunately I am sure it is quite expensive. Plus, Utah is a cross country trip from TN ! I would go if was a bike trip...
In fact, Last May, I took a trip of lifetime going on Route 66 from Nashville, starting in St.Louis and ending a Pier 1, LA.
Took me 2 weeks, stay on Route 66 90% of the time, a couple of times I even had to back track because the Route ended in Dead End But it was a great trip. Did it by myself, since I could not find anybody to go with. It was probably better anyone, because on the way back home, I was able to stop at Death Valley, Meteor Crator and Grand Canyon.
Anyone up for a ride on Blue Ridge Parkway this May??
