Hey reviews in Australia is mixed. Nothing great, i am afraid. They say that looks ugly, but tough. However most buyers report different problems right from the beggining. It has a common theme to what the Brazilian guys are reporting also...
Here is the longes review by a new owner I found....

"I bought a new 2010 pikup this last week.
Hmm, air didnt work on the trip to Cooma from Sydney and at 38c thats a drama.
Used it around the dirt tracks and local roads this week and its excellent.
The car does lack power. On a hill start on dirt it is realy bad, take off and its dead, then the power comes in and its spinning the rear wheels, if you change to second it dies again. Bad. Yesterday at a rural location the car hemoraged, huge diesel leak from under the engine bay, its just pouring out and along the underside.
I also smell coolant and that always makes me feel uneasy.
This is the first week.Ive called and emailed the dealer and they are having a meeting.
They didnt try to resolve the airconditioning problem and it took day to get an rely email.
Ive had loads of cars and have sound mechanical and automotive background and cant help feeling that this car wont last till the end of the warranty, its got a real cheap feel to it.
Ill keep you posted.

Ouch. Do you know for a fact that the 2010 Aussie truck has the 2.2L mHawk, or still the older 2.5L?

I saw this review. Mahindra's reply was that the fuel leak was fixed with a $5 part and the air conditioning was also fixed. They responded to the "real cheap feel to it" by saying the customer got it real cheap. I was a little surprised that Mahindra didn't say anything to defend the quality of the truck.

There seems to be a consistent theme in Australian reviews that the main reason for looking at a Mahindra is price.

Default more tales from the underbelly of the globe

And here is a site with a comparison of the Pik-Up to the Chinese Great Wall ute- kind of funny, if it weren't so sad. Take note of the ongoing "weird cabin smell" comment about the Mahindra- they don't even get "new car smell" right- probably those nutria-rat fur stuffed headliners. They also note that a new engine and trans are coming to Australia.

You are RIGHT! Two most common reviews problems is that fuel pump issue/diesel leak and the cabin smell ! I read that quite a few times.
I wonder what kind of plastic they are using for this truck... I am sure they will hear quite a bit from us if they don't fix the smell problem before gets to the US.
PS: I don't think the smell is there when you go look at the truck, or who would want to buy it???

Well... I still think we need to wait and see what actually shows up here. Assuming it does. The Austrailian market is a lot different than ours and they have different wants and needs.
That, and anyone paying real-money for something that says "Great Wall" on it's flanks, ya just gotta wonder...

cheers!

The smell that's prevalent is formaldehyde. It's famous throughout the truck and van conversion industry.
The first sign is burning eyes when you climb in the offending rig during a warm afternoon.

Default Update on the 2010 pikup

I had the car for a few hours and as you read on my last article the car was sluggish and cheap.
Well the dealer was correct, the parts where sent overnight and the fuel leak repaired.
The air also fixed.
On the quality of the vehicle, its cheap inside, the plasic is all fitted well, but both rubber and plastic parts are prone to scratching very easily.
I washed the car with a standard high pressure cleaner and blew door rubber stops off the car.had to retrive them and stick em back on.
The car goes great now and has plenty of power.
Itd excellent on dirt roads, but dust does seep in.
Its on par with older 4x4s for dust proofing.
Its good on the highway and its rattle free. We have an 07 Nissan patrol as well and its very rattly, the interior seems to be loose.
The Pikup is good for the money.
I have another fuel leak, it looks like the return pipe on the injection dosnt handle the volume of fuel on steep hills or higher speeds.
After a big climb fuel leaks out of the nozzles and runs down the sde of the engine and onto the ground.
Ill keep updating everyone with honest reports. Mahindra is an excellent company who offer fast solutions, the dealer who I bought the vehicle from was very quick to fire at me when I posted an honest experience.
