Here it goes guys, do not keep you hopes up for Mahindra truck before April.
If it all goes well, they will be here in April... if not in May...
Here is the article, come out this Friday.
"
M&M said today that it plans to launch 6-7 new variants of its existing vehicles in fiscal year 2010-2011. The company will also formally start production of pick up trucks in US by April 2010.

“Next fiscal we will be launching 6-7 new variants of our existing models. The new variants will cover all segment including utility vehicles, commercial vehicles and three wheelers,” M&M President (Automotive) Pawan Goenka told media on the occasion of JK Tyre Baja SAE India 2010 event.

“During the auto-expo in Delhi earlier this month we had launched two models built on completely new platforms including the ‘Maxximo’. We believe that the Maximo, Geo and our recently launched heavy trucks will act as volume driver next fiscal, while new variant launches will support this,” Goenka said.

M&M is also going ahead with the formal launch of production in the US by early April 2010. “We are waiting for homologation of our pick-ups to be completed in the US and we believe this will be done by the end of March. Then we will be ready to roll out the first vehicles by early April.”

“Till December end we have registered a total sales of 2.25 lakh units and in the January to March quarter, which is generally known for a rise in volume sales, we expect a further growth. Next fiscal, we expect to maintain our market share and growth along with the industry average”, he added.

Goenka when asked about the supply problems that caused 5% loss in October-November quarter said, “There is still some supply constraints but we expect the situation to be back to normal by April.”

We believe by the end of March. They believed by early January and then Febuary and now the end of March. If by some strange change of events they are ready to start production by the end of March, it would be closer to July than April when a dealer has a truck.

GV has said spring is a great time to launch a vehicle. If so it would have to be spring 2011.

And they are starting distribution in the Atlanta area and spreading from there. Elsewhere in the forum here (one of the dealers I think) there was a recent article posted stating that they were going to bring only 2000 of them in at first. W/ 300ish dealers that's less than 7 per dealer...
Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking? (I hope I'm wrong btw)
Sure would be nice to get some straight info. from M&M, or GV, or a dealer or...
