Default Road noise/engine noise

Hi Fellas,

I read some of the posts about the cabin noise. I read that the Aussie version had a noisy cabin on one of the reviews. I hope that M&M learned from the Aussie reviews and did some sound proofing on the US bound model.

Leer was consulted on fit and finish items for the US version and I'm sure they gave feedback to M&M and GV. We'll see if they took the advice.

As far as engine noise goes; I'm pretty sure that this MHawk will be surprisingly quiet. The latest Bosch diesel injection technology is very good and I'm sure they took advantage of it. The Euro vehicles have the advanced diesel tech already.

I once read about the Ford Focus diesels and how they have incorporated acoustic monitors on the engine to 'listen' to the combustion cycle. The system adjusts the properties and timing of the fuel injection to burn steady and long through the power stroke cycle. I guess it is more of a deflagration through the cycle and not a detonation.

The latest tech employs very high pressure common rail systems that operate at pressures approaching 30,000psi. The injectors inject fuel multiple times during the power cycle so that the fuel burns more steady and not all at once. Hence, deflagration vs detonation.

The ECU of the vehicle controls it all and the result is clean efficient burn with less NOx etc. The SCR emission control is a completely different story so I will stop here.

Thats what I know and please correct me if I'm wrong.

Good luck.....John
