Default What is your plan B truck?

We are all interested in the Mahindra trucks, and surely they will show up sometime, but- what would you do to fill the need for a truck if:

you have to make a move before they arrive, or
they don't live up to what we expected, or
the price to value ratio is too high, or
any other reason?

What truck out there would you choose if you don't get a Mahindra?

This is a good question... The Mahindra is kind of unique in its size plus diesel motor. I guess if I just had to get a pickup, I might look into a Suzuki Equator. But I have not even had the chance to look at one yet. I've really liked the Nissan Titan's, but I don't think they are too hot on fuel economy.

Heck, I really don't know! But I don't have any money anyways, so I guess that makes it an easy choice

I think I am in the same boat, no money but a lengthy wish list (Oh darn, Christmas is past!).
The diesel is the major selling point with this truck. However, if it was available in any small truck, I would be inclined to purchase one. I am not hanging my hat on the Mahindra do to the frequent changes that have come about regarding its debut and the fact I am going to need a vehicle before summer. I am sure everything is eventually going to happen, but this on again/off again schedule is no way to run a business and the same old excuses just don't give me any confidence.

For me, if it had to be a new truck (and it doesn't), I guess it might be a Ford Ranger- especially if I could find it with the 7 foot bed. Close second is the Tacoma- but I went to a dealer and looked at one a while back, and I left there thinking I didn't really want one. I'm limiting myself to the standard cab trucks, so that narrows down the field. I think by this summer I'll be getting either a TR20 or looking at used Rangers.

If, for some reason, I don't get a Mahindra, I'll just hang on to my 2002 Dodge Cummins since its paid for. But since I have 3 kids, and my Dodge is a regular cab, I think a TK40 is in my future.

If the TR20's don't pan out I would have to choose between keeping my F250 and the Suzuki Equator. Out of all the pickups that I have looked at on the net, I like the SE the best. It seems like it is designed for my activities, surf fishing, salt water kayak fishing, bicycling. I like the fact that it has a built in bed liner and washable seats. Also the 100,000 mile warranty. I had promised myself a new truck when I turned 60 and I am already a year behind waiting for the Mahindra.

Default Wait on truck

I'll buy a hybrid car and new saddle bags for my motorcycle. I'll replace my wife's car with a diesel truck when they come out. I hold on to vehicles for a long time, and I expect fuel prices to double to triple over the life span of my next truck. Fifteen years ago I said I would only buy an RV if it got 30 mpg for environmental reasons, but economic concerns now equal or exceed that.

Between now and when I get a truck I will get in as much motorcycle trips as possible.

Default Peewee, that's a damn fine question.

Too bad I don't have a solid answer besides ah.... I don't know.
Kinda got set on one of these little diesels.
Guess I'll just keep gassing up the old Chevy.

Three Chevy's in a row. But I think mine is on it's last legs and will need to be replaced before GM, Ford or Toyota come out with a diesel. And I am tired of driving it after 16 years.
