I really like the Ridgeline, but after reading alot of reviews it is a roll of the dice on mpg, you see some getting 8-13 mpg(enough to make me think twice). As far as Chevy/GMC pure JUNK! !Dodge has came along way in recent years, just not far enough..Ford makes the most reliable GAS HOG on the road, thats unless you want a 4x2 Ranger. Toyota is currently having more problems than I have time to list. But Toyota is making a quick turnaround and by this fall will be the best truck on the road again (depending on how good Mahindra will be)... In my opinion Toyota has not built a good reliable, good MPG/200,000 mile truck sence the pre Tacoma truck. My 1992 Toyota 4x4 4banger 5spd man. hubs, reg. cab got 28 MPG consistantly..My last Toyota truck 2001 Tacoma 4banger, 5spd auto. hub reg. cab got 16 MPG consistantly ???? So unless the Ford EcoBoost works out,I will be taking a really hard look at the Suzuki Equator..

What's the political phrase of choice lately... Oh yeah. You're open to you're own opinion, but not your own facts.

Im not sure what the desire is for an expensive mid sized truck that gets full size truck gas mileage. Besides, Nissan hasn't made anything worth owning since the hardbody... And now they're half FRENCH; No thank you

After the gov. bailout of Dodge and Chevy I would never even concider buying one I have had 2 new Chevy's , both junk, still not sure why I got the second one ,maybe cause I was raised around Chevy??If you read reviews Dodge owner are alot happier than Chevy owners just go to New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com .. I agree Nissan's are junk too I had a 1996 and it was in the shop almost as much as the Chevy's. Suzuki may soon be coming out with their own truck built by Suzuki. So if the Mahindra stays invisible and the eco-boost is a failure, maybe by that time Suzuki may have a new truck. We could even get lucky and it be a diesel ..

Default Suitable Truck

The world is one big, constantly changing place. I think it is a mistake to limit yourself to one brand. The hard earned information from previous ownership of any brand may have little bearing on the current trucks available. What you need in a truck may have also changed.

Dodge - I had a 67 D100. With a slant six and a three speed on the column. It was good all around truck. The door hinges broke and it rusted out.
The old style Dakota was comparable in size but not as heavy duty a truck.

Ford - I had a 69 F100. It had the Inline 300 six with the three speed on the column. It was by far the best all around truck I have owned. Ford doesn't make anything that size or with such a great engine.

Because I had such good luck with the late 60's Dodge and Ford, I bought several more trucks of those two brands. None of them were as good. I now try buying trucks on what is currently available that suits my needs.

Sifting through information on the Internet is tough. Someone may give the MPG they get but fail to say what engine, rear end and transmission they have. They also may not say what they get towing or if so how much weight they tow getting it. The "squeeky wheel gets the grease" filter applies on information given on the Internet also.

I have been thinking that my plan B might be coming real soon. It goes as follows: find 1995-1998 Chevy 1/2 long box 2wd with 5 speed, pull the gasser, and install a 4bt Cummins. Then use a Bluegrass Fuel Systems refining system to power it on a blend of #2 diesel and used oil. Only problem is that the wife says no more vehicles unless I get rid of something..... and no more projects until I get the Sami and my Vulcan Bobber finished. Maybe she will give me credit for getting rid of the VW Golf after I get the engine pulled.

Default Pulled the Trigger

Today I set my dream of buying a TR20 Mahindra aside. I needed to have a tow vehicle by May. When a number of rebates came together on a Chevy 4x4 WT, I bought it. I will keep checking back to see how things are going.

Bugman,
I drive an '01 Chevy half-ton with 148K on the clock, and I've been brutal on this truck.
It's never stranded me and during that 148,000, I've changed out the alternator, A/C compressor, radiator, and one set of brake pads, along with three sets of tires.

Know what you're talking about before ya shoot at the entire brand, m'kay?

Didn't mean to stir anyone up, I have known people who have had good chevys. The 2 I have had and several at work have not been that way, I'm not sure what was worse the trucks or the service departments.
