Default Never going to happen.

Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but the little diesel truck is never going to materialize. (We have been promised we could buy two for our business 'any month now' since mid-2008.) This is just like the cheap Chinese built cars that were going to be imported in the late 1990's (still waiting for those.)
If the importer can't scoop up some failing Dodge dealerships or grease bureacrats' palms in this economic envioronment, it just ain't happening. Good Luck.

Sounds like a low level salesperson at some dealership somewhere has foolishly tried to keep you alive on the hook by making irresponsible predictions about when you will be able to buy a Mahindra...but that's no basis for concluding that these products are not coming to the US. They are.

Then again, that might just be an honest opinion.
Like I've stated before, I can't see it happening within the 2010 model year.

Default What does all this Tell Us?

Did you know Toyota displaced US firm General Motors as the world No 1 early this year, while Germany's Volkswagen is all set to take the crown with its takeover of German luxury carmaker Porsche. And they all know that India, along with China, will decide who wins the race. Ford, will also unveil its trump car for India (key word "for") the Figo compact.
These automakers, convinced that the future lies in compact cars, global majors, including Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Renault- Nissan-Bajaj, unveiled plans to launch small cars in India.
With the world also moving towards small cars, the automakers didn't want to miss the chance of making India their base for exports. [Pressured global car makers drive destination India in 2009 13 Dec 2009, 1216 hrs IST]

Sounds as though in an ever changing economy, the good ol' boys / buracrats, are sending all of us up the proverbial creek without an option!

Well, if our govt. keeps printing a trillion dollars every 6 months the TR40 will go for about $55k by this time next year.

I contacted GV to ask what dealers near me are definite, and whether the Sarasota dealer's stated belief that he will get vehicles in February is realistic. They said they can't give out any dealer names until "Mahindra receives, and releases all certification approvals". Maybe it is part of their contract with Mahindra and/or the dealers.
Good news, they responded to my e-mail quickly. Also on the up side, they aren't making any more predictions that would come back to bite them. I guess they are planning a "soft launch" - no big publicity campaign, kind of ease into the market. Time will tell if this was the right approach.

Default Silence is golden?

Mahindra will be here. They certainly won’t be the last Indian manufacturer to come here either.

They have made mistakes in promoting their product and defining a launch date. They definitely underestimated what it takes to bring an on-road vehicle to the US. But (I hope) they are learning from that.

I totally agree that staying quiet at this point is the best approach. It’s certainly not very satisfying to Mahindra fans anxious for information, but it’s a lot better than giving out yet another date that fails to happen. I think that a year from now Mahindra will have a fine product on the streets and most people will have forgotten about these introduction missteps.
