Default Manual trans.

The manual transmission is what I'm waiting for. You get better fuel economy, more control over the engine, increased brake life with the use of engine braking power, and more durability. I would much rather change a clutch than rebuild an auto trans. 5-10 years down the road.

I too have voted for an auto. This is because I enjoy holding a cup in my right hand "right handed" and like being able to focus, cause when you get to be my age, you need all the help you can to focus. I also like the fact when I am pulling my boat out of the water up a long ramp, it allows me the ability to have a constant pull, the same as in snow going up a winding road and having to slow then accelerate. I like an auto because they have come a very long ways in gearing and with the manual overide, am sure this combination will work just fine. I have a 3/4T dodge 2500 diesel w/automatic and pull a 18' equipment trailer with mini excavator and have found the automatic to be all I ever needed and glad that I chose what I did. Hope this helps.:-)

I voted manual because it's what I am used to and this is going to be a slow vehicle. There was a post that mentioned the Australian version took somewhere around 20 seconds to get to 60 with a manual transmission and the automatic was even slower. A manual may only be a little quicker than an automatic, but it will seem sportier.

PICKUPTRUCKS.COM drove an Austrailian Pik-Up which had a 105hp engine. We are *theoretically* getting a 140hp / 240 lbft torque engine (I'm assuming that torque ratings follow hp relatively closely between the two) so if the 105 hp is the engine in the truck you read about, the US truck should be livelier.
-here's hoping...
