Default Axles?

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I've been looking at pictures and it appears that the trucks will have a straight axle and not 4 wheel independent suspension. Can any one verify this for me...If I get one, one of the first things I will do is try to get a lift for it...as to get at least 10" of clearance..It would e a daily driver/off road toy for me.

thanks

Default Issue for me too

I was really wanting to know about the axles as a rear full floater to the tuffer axles for a work truck. The truck they made for sale in other places shows it has a semi floater in the rear.

I really wanted to know what it had. This truck will not fit into any standard category for a current truck made here.

There is a link here to a sales pamphlet from over seas that tells.

The rear axle being a full floater isn't a deal breaker with me.

I will not lift the truck. I will work it for sure.

From everything I've read, the rear is solid axle/leaf sprung. Front is independent/torsion sprung. Not ideal for off-road (limited articulation). Hardcore guys will be looking for a solid front axle and coil spring conversion. If you are concerned about ground clearance only, it already has 8.3 inches stock on the factory tires. P245/75R16 tires are equal to a 29" by 9.5" wide tire. So, going to a 31" tire will get you another inch anyway. Assuming the bigger OD doesn't affect the warranty.

If you are happy with the IFS, you can usually crank the torsion springs and get a little more ride hieght. Out back is usually just a matter of making blocks and installing longer u-bolts.

Hopefully the aftermarket supports these trucks!

Default after market

After market will support anything that made. sooner or later someone will.

The read solid axle shown is a semi floater. Basically it has 1 bearing out board and the axle supports the weight.

Full floaters have 2 bearings and the axle is used only for turning so they are greatly stronger.

Semi floaters are strong enough for most uses and have rating fairly high. The truck will still work for me even with a semi floating solid read axle.

I need to correct myself on the tire size. 245/75R-16 equates to a 30.5 inch OD, not 29 has I wrote above. The effective standard equivalent will be a 31x9.5-16 standard. You’d have to go to a 33 to get that additional inch of clearance.

I agree with koolhandlinc. I’m sure the axles will be semi-floaters for the sake of manufacturing economy.
