Default Mahindra loses to Ford: Part 2

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I gave up long ago on Mahindra... But I just now pulled the trigger on a new vehicle purchase.

It's a red 2011 Ford Transit Connect XLT Wagon

Seats 5 comfortably, 4 spd AT, AC, Power locks, mirrors, remote start, AM-FM-CD with aux in.

1600 pound payload. 72" long x 48" wide X 48" high payload space.

21-26 MPG

The only bad part is that you can't tow anything with it...

It'll be my daily driver/delivery truck/vacation vehicle.

You can buy a hitch for it. I've read reviews saying they are towing 2000lb with no problem . I've been looking pretty hard at a 2012 Tacoma , they have tweaked it a bit and its made a world of difference . Before long I'll probably be pulling the proverbial trigger myself . Seriously considering a kinda plan jane access cab 4cyl 5sp 4x4.

I've had a Transit for over a year. It's exclusively a work truck. With a ladder rack on it, I'm routinely getting 22 MPG in 50/50 city highway driving. I have had a couple of trips where I took the rack off and got 24 mpg at 65-75 mph.

So far, great little truck. Not a luxury vehicle by any means, but good, solid transportation. I don't think I would tow anything more than a small trailer with it. Just not enough oomph. Hell, it's only a 120 HP engine, or something like that!!

I believe the guy hauling 2000lb was in Florida ( flat land ). I wouldn't trust it to haul more than a 400 - 500 lb atv.

I'll post a pic in about a week with some mpg results at that point . Its already got 600 miles on it so far this week . At this point I love it , doesn't bog on the hills like the Ranger did . My dislikes would be no always on power plug , and no wiper delay .The power source I can fix.
