Default Ford releases tentative 2017-2018 plans

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I read late last night that Ford will be looking to drop the weight of the 2017-2018 model vehicles by at least 250 lbs up to 700 lbs.

I'd assume that those models actually arive in time to meet CAFE regs in 2016. they are looking into more carbon fiber for frames/bodies (most likely for the passenger cars not trucks) and switching away from steel frames.

Nothing we already didn't know but this was an actual "offical" release

I've been trying to find reviews written by consumers of the new Ford 3.7. All I'm finding is one on Edmunds . It's a good review but come on now its been out for 4 + months . I've found maybe 6-7 on the other 3 motors, all mixed reviews good and bad.

probably because it is such a low volume motor and largely purchased by fleet users. I doubt that there are many individual owners out there that bought one as thier personal vehicle

I would certinaly consider it but to get 4x4 you have to get super high gearing (I don't need that) and it really hurts the highway mileage.

I am about 16-18 months away from purchasing my next vehicle and I hope there are some good options out by then but I doubt a whole lot will change. Maybe GM's updates will be out by then.

Try F150forum.com. There is good discussion there on all the new engines.

Actually what I'm seeing from cruising the local lot is the 3.7 short bed 4x4 seems to be not sitting long . I'm not sure why the low gearing , it has a load of power ?
