Default Talked to Mahindra

Register to stop seeing this ad!

Had a good chat this morning with a very nice guy from Mahindra that gave me a little more update on whats going on.

At this time everything is a go for February. They see no delays at this point. As far as building a manufacturing facility here, Mahindra may do that later but for now they are just paying the chicken tax to get them imported.

As far as the diesel hybrid version goes, they are waiting for it to release in India before they give any kind of time frame of releasing in the US.

Anyways, I now have a great contact to answer questions. I'll be looking through the forum for some of the more common questions that we dont have answers to, and if you have any truck specific questions, please let me know. I may start an FAQ thread here soon as well.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy,

Thanks much for getting that info and passing it along.

My #1 question would be if/when is their test drive fleet going to be touring the U.S.? I think a lot of us are itching to see one first-hand.

Hugh

You are welcome Hugh! I actually talked with him about that briefly. He said that they are still figuring out the best way to do that, but that is still the plan. As far as when, they don't know for sure yet. I'll continue to inquire on this and hopefully get that info to everyone when the time comes.

Thanks!

They're paying the chicken tax? On each truck? Is that even legal? Fiscally irresponsible for a young corporation, definitely. You see, I have this bridge and if you were to maybe...
Was this Mahindra, or Global that you spoke with? Because I have this feeling both companies are on different pages of the playbook right about now.
Also, if that's true, somebody (way up there) in the House or Senate has told them the repeal of the chicken tax is a done deal and they're simply waiting on the session. Let me see... Ya think just before their trucks start arriving? Color me shocked.

Hey, I told ya when I signed on I'm a terminal skeptic.

They might be trying for an exception to the chicken tax just for Mahindra. If i remember correctly Perez got an exemtion from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to not have to put airbags in the Cross Lander.

They might go the exemption route again.

Very interesting news indeed.

Dick you might be right, some of these large corporations are not always on the same page.

Exemption for the chicken tax? I hope so :-)

Default well I got questions!

I posted already I hope to learn specs like full floating differentials and limited slip or lockers. will the 4 wheel drive have low range. some of these things are pretty common on full size trucks for working and common on 4 wheel drives.

If I purchase one of these which is very possible. I will be looking at a dual purpose truck I can use for work and then drive home.

I really home they will have something that fills in all the right places. plus 30 mpg unloaded yet able to haul a load 20% of the time. Sometimes heavy loads. But that's what a trailer is for.

I am one who prefers a mix of old and new. I still prefer the older manual locking hubs because I believe they are more efficient. I can get out and lock hubs if i can save 10% in fuel when driving on the highway.
