Look you probably will be a grandpa by the time Mahindra gets it's sh1t together.
Ford is run by yes men. Someone at the head of the table wants to save money by making us buy F150s instead of the compacts that make more sense. It will get worse because at $4 g F150 sales will tank and incentives will get aggressive. Ford will take this as a sign they made the right decision giving all the US Ranger business to Toyota Tacoma.

My daughter is 3 so I hope there is something before I am a grandpa .

I think Ford is doing a good job just not great and nothing is ever quick enough but keep in mind that it takes a few years to design and test seomthing new. They just don't draw up a vehicle and have it in production in 6 months, more like 48 months.

I honestly think Marchionne is going to do some pretty good things with Chrysler over the next 3-4 years but that is 3-4 years not now.

GM I have a little less faith in, they appear to be on a similar path that they were on about 3-5 years ago and the new CEO just doesn't seem to be into it like Marchionne and Mullaly. Maybe GM needs to start poaching some executive level talent from Hyundai/Kia (over the past 5 years they really seem to understand what is needed and are willing to do it)

SIGH... yeah, they're just "making" folks buy F150s... hundreds of thousands of them in 2010 alone...
oh those bad "yes men"...

For what it's worth,it takes on average 5 years for a new vehicle to go from the drawing board to production.........if it's green lighted. The 5 year thing is pretty much an industry standard.

some are faster some are slower. I think a lot of car companies over the past couple of years have committed to faster product changes.

just think about it, you bought a brand new vehciles with a 12 year old motor design in it
