Register to stop seeing this ad! This is the last time Im waiting for this truck to be released,do the big-whigs at Mahindra know there are people waiting to buy?Dodge is releasing a smaller pick-up with the Jeep Libertys Mercedes motor in 2012,I think that will be first thus negating Mahindras advantage in the market.Unless theres a good reason for them trying to nix there deal with GV there not the type of company you want to be dealing with.Whats going to happen when your new Mahindra breaks how can consumers feel safe after watching what they do to a buisness partner. |

I think you'll be disappointed if you wait for the new small pickup from Chrysler to have the Mercedes diesel in it. When the initial concept came out there was still a relationship there, but I think it is now over. Could be a Fiat diesel, but I wouldn't hold my breath. |

Let me ask you this, would you really want to buy any Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep product after seeing something like this?:
Breitbart.tv Bailed Out Union Auto Workers Busted Boozing, Smoking Weed Ratings | J.D. Power My parents owned a few Plymouth vehicles back in the 90's and had lots of problems with them. What I would really like is for Toyota to release the Tacoma with a diesel. If they were I would probably not even be on this forum . My cousin works as a Toyota mechanic and said they were researching it back in 2008 but abandoned the research when the market went bad. Assuming they never release it and no other Japanese manufacturers release a small diesel truck, Mahindra is my next option. Last would be a Ford Ranger diesel. If that does not happen then I won't get anything. Also, for me, an suv is out because I want to put an auxiliary fuel tank in it. I care more about range than efficiency.

I am running a 2005 Jeep Liberty diesel, 115,000 miles. Great power, torque galore a joy to drive.
Pickups: None of these manufactures will take a chance on anything. Hell, look at design, if one comes out with a new shape they all copy it. Goes for their cars, the new station wagons they want to call crossovers all of it. Not an original idea in the industry. The reason small pickup trucks do not sell much better than the current numbers is simple. You pay as much or more than a full size truck with mileage that is from the 1970s. If some company is smart enough to offer a good package the rest will be playing catchup. I am mad enough at Ford's decision to keep the new Ranger out of the US that I derailed my wife's 2011 Escape order. |

Liberties use a VM diesel and the current jeeps available in non North American countries with diesel engines are using a VM RA428. It is a much improved engine over the VM R428 used in the 05 and 06 KJ's that we got in the US.
It has piezo injectors, motor driven instead of vacuum driven Variable Vane Turbo. It puts out 400 foot pounds instead of the original 301 the 05&06 KJ's had before Chrysler limited torque to 260 foot pounds to make the torque converters last through the warranty. The newer engine has a improved torque converter that is now also the replacement for the whimpy ones in the 05 and 06 kj's. Link to VM VM Motori S.p.A. |

I agree 100% about the Liberty being uncomfortable The seats are rock hard and a killer on long drives.I'm a fan of the Cherokee (XJ) and have a almost perfect 2000 Classic version the wife drives but fuel mileage is not a strong point on the Cherokee. I've got a tune on my Liberty and it goes from 290 ft pounds at 1400 rpms to 335 at 2000 rpms. After Chrysler's effort to save the TC we had 260 Last edited by JoBo; 10-08-2010 at 08:02 AM. |
