Default A look at success in OZ

Register to stop seeing this ad!

I checked out the OZ website and saw major incentives for buying 2009 models. Looks like these Ute's are not selling well down under.

Could not find much info on their 2010 models. I was trying to see some pix but did not find much.

My guess is the fact that there are diesels already available there they are struggling to sell the M&M Ute's there. It must be a fit and finish issue.

Any thoughts on this?

M&M's major advantage in the US is the diesel engine that meets the EPA requirements. They better take advantage of that soon or some other sharp Co. will.

Stop stalling, start building and settle the arbitration or M&M will miss their chance at capturing the market that is obviously already dying in the US.

Good luck all.............J

I know they get the weaker 2.5 engine and that has to hurt compared to competitors' much strong 3.0 mills. They likely need better fit and finish too. I worry about this for the US trucks, especially with a new model no more than about a year away.

Mahindra doesn't do well in Australia because they have the
Toyota Hilux
Nissan Navara
Mitsubishi Triton L200
Isuzu Dmax
Holden Colorado
And what do we have the big huge bulbous Tacoma ,, not many people are going buy a Mahindra with those other choices available .

the Hilux and Tacoma are practially the same size, same platform I believe. the rest of the world doesn't get F150's and such or the mide sizers would likely take a hit. Smaller trucks (US Ranger sized) are the ones I think that offer a solid distinction from the full-sizers. The Mahindra is a Tacoma sized truck and won't really be all that small.

The Mahindra is a very oddly proportioned vehicle. If the specs are accurate, it's as tall as a F150, as wide as a Ranger, as long as Frontier, but the wheel base is about 7 inches shorter than a Frontier. It's going to be classified as a mid sized truck.

Personally , myself I think the Tacoma is the perfect all round size. If Toyota only had more options for the power plant. I love the 3.5 in my 2010 Highlander, it's great on fuel and smooth power. If I could get that in a Tacoma?
