Unless you have a Jeep Wrangler with the top off, AC is definitely a must in North Idaho during the hot summers. Other than that, I dont really care. I'll take crank windows.

And they must have some way to tie a load down. I want to haul my yak in the bed and have to have a way to keep it from sliding off.

And looking at the spec sheet that just came out, I can't beleive that in order to get cruise contros, which is pretty much a standard feature now, I have to buy all sorts of crap like steering wheel mounted audio controls (god the radio is only 1 ft away) and all the other electrical crap that eventually breaks down.

I guess that we'll have to see what all these "extras." cost. If all those unwanted features cost thousands of dollars, it probably would be a deal breaker.

Default what he said

cruise control was something I really would like also, having done without it on long drives is an inconvenience. A/C would have been on the list if they hadn't made it standard. I'm surprised compass and trip computer are standard, along with stability control. I think they listened to some people who were the typical truck buyer in the U.S. that gets the lily gilded, not those of us who have been forgotten who just need a work horse. Who knows what they could sell the truck for if it was ungussied.
I also would want a fiberglass camper shell in matching paint.

I saw that. I think cruise control should be a standard feature on anything on the road, IMHO. There are some strange combinations that maybe haven’t been finalized. I’m happy to see that there may be a steel wheel as standard though.

I’m very curious about “motorized adjustable headlamps”. I’m also not so sure that you need to list “center high mounted stoplight” in 2009.

Default your custom Mahindra is ready, sir.

Something I didn't see on the list- the paddle shifters. I was thinking they were the kind of thing more suited to a sports car, but I've never driven a vehicle with them so I don't know.
Just a thought- what if they made the majority of their sales on a made-to-order basis? I seem to recall a reference to that option in an interview with a Mahindra or GV spokesman a while back, and that it would be about a three month lead time. They would have to have a truck on hand for people to look at, sit in and test drive, probably have a small number of "standard and deluxe" models for those who can't wait, but many of us are looking that far ahead anyway. In fact, if they had that test vehicle they would be making sales already, I bet.
No carpeting, yes to cruise control, no to heated mirrors, etc. And choose your colors. And don't pay for features you don't need or want. Anybody like that idea?

Hay,

I'd go for the no carpeting option. Getting in and out of my truck with sandy feet from walking in waders on the beach would make that a no brainer.

I think the only options I have to have are cruise, and A/C. A/C mostly for it's winter time defogging. I guess that I've grown accustomed to power windows and door locks... so I can deal with that.

Carpet in Central New York just becomes an absorbant pad (think ShamWow) for the rocksalt/sand/slush we live in half the year.

Ha, Ha It's much the same in South Jersey except that in the summer it's salt soaked beach sand.

One can almost hear Billy May now, "Buy two new Shiva Wows in the next five minutes, they declare war on salt, and I will throw in a free Mahindra TR20."
