From the Aussie Mahindra spec sheet (PDF).

"Fuel Consumption (L) 9.9 / 100km"

Umm, I hate to stir a peanut filled turd in the pool (Not really, as I kinda get a kick out of it.), but this equals out to 23.7 MPG, not 30.

Your math is correct sir....I am now deeply worried....might be looking at a a gasser after all.....but dont the Aussies have the 2.5L?

"Engine Turbo diesel (CRDe)
Type “NEF 2.49L CRDe EURO-IV” - 4 stroke, 4 cylinder, 2498CC
Power (@ rpm) 79kW / 106Hp @ 3800
Torque (Nm @ rpm) 247 @ 1800 ~ 2200
Compression ratio 17:8:1
Gear Box 5 Speed manual (synchromesh).....
Axle Ratio 4.55"
The axle ratio might have something to do with the MPG being that low? U.S. Version might have 3.XX axle ratio....

I am thinking that the 2.2L that we are going to get sometime is different than the overseas models. Smaller displacement engine with the reworked urea exhaust system should yield better results too.

Yeah, I'm hoping this as well. Just after seeing that...
I wanna see the EPA estimates when they come out.

I agree with the gearing ratio. 4.55 is well beyond regular gearing. I bet we get something more like 3.55 or 3.73 That would help out a ton not to mention we are getting a completed different engine than the Aussies. I am betting that only 2x4 models hit 30 highway but still 27-28 is about 50% better than any 1/2 ton out there.

Any Chevy half ton with a V8 will get 20-22 mpg on the highway.

EPA lists 20 I believe with the 5.3, certain gearing and 2x4. They do have an XFE model that gets 22 but again this is a special setup only.

I was just saying on a whole using averages most 1/2 tons are around 17-20 highway anda 50% increase is right at about 28 mpg

Yep, I see what you're saying. With my last three Chevy trucks (that's all I've driven since the early 90's) the average on road trips seemed to be about 22mpg, and 18 or so city/hwy combined.

Default gasser

Is it 2x4 or 4x4 ? I have never owned a Chevy 1/2 4x4 that gets over 17-18 on hwy.

In my experience I have never seen hwy above the high teens. Then again in Idaho our Interstate speed is 75 so we are goign faster than most of the country. At 65 they might just be at 20.
