I'm not expecting the Mahindras to perform like a Chevy Duramax, but I'm hoping they will do reasonably well with a 3500-4500lb enclosed utility trailer or small travel trailer.

140HP/236TQ at 2400RPM is the spec isn't it? That's better than my 4.8L gas V8 at the same RPM. With less truck to move, performance should be at least as good.

Any other musings, pontifications, prognostications?

that is all I am looking for with this truck, the ability when needed to tow 4k pounds reasonably well without getting an abysmal 12 mpg

According to the bottom of the Automotive News article posted, they are listed the Mahindra's towing capacity to be around 5K pounds. I am hoping that is true when I have to tow my Hyundai Sonata to my next duty station, hopefully in a Mahindra.

If not, that new 2011 Ford Superduty is going to be a very nice truck...
