With very few exeptions (the early Ford F100's for example) the standard definition of a 'truck' has long been a cab (and tray) over frame, solid axle vehicle. Any major deviation and it is not a truck, but officially a 'car based pickup'. For example... The Honda Ridgeline is called a 'car based pickup'.
