I currently tow with my jeep Liberty CRD that has a 2800cc VM diesel with 4 valves per cylinder. Chrysler neutered it after selling them because of a weak torque converter. As is it does fine with my 3500# camping trailer untill I get to any kind of up hill grade. Then it shifts from 5th to 3rd gear and roars totally avoiding 4th. They retuned it to behave like a gas engine to avoid replacing torque converters under warranty. In the long run they would have been much better off because they only sold 14k of them in the US in 05/06 and they've gotten a lot of bad press
