I'm sure it will work just fine for a lot of people
From the Ford web site (specs for the Taurus SHO version):

The 3.5L EcoBoost™ is the first North American production twin-turbocharged direct-injection V6 engine. And Taurus SHO is the first and only vehicle in its class to feature the EcoBoost engine.* This engine provides better fuel economy** and fewer emissions as compared with a V8 engine. EcoBoost combines two different technologies – turbocharging and direct-injection – to deliver the performance of a much larger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller engine. It churns out 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide 1,500 – 5,000 rpm range.† And it does all that with an estimated 17 city/25 highway fuel economy.

It's not a Scorpion diesel, but I'm pretty sure that this engine will do just fine in a light truck...
